Since 2014 Liverpool has sold both Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona, with the latter now saying today that he left Anfield because he wanted to win major trophies. Well, Barcelona are currently top of the table in La Liga with a very comfortable cushion over Atletico Madrid.
They’re also now through to the Copa Del Rey final and matched against a Chelsea team that’s currently in disarray in the UEFA Champions League knockout round.
So Coutinho may indeed get his wish, and for Liverpool supporters who wish him well on his new venture, things look promising.
Coutinho, who won zero trophies at Anfield, finally scored his first goal as a member of the Catalan club, and in doing so provided both a throwback and look ahead. That’s because the teammate who set him up was no other than Suarez himself, and the goal pushed Barca ahead to the Copa Del Rey final.
Here’s the footage:

Coutinho moved to Barcelona this past January transfer window and broke the English record for sale transfer fee. The price tag made him the third most expensive player in history.
In other Liverpool related Coutinho news, Reds winger Mohamed Salah discussed just how much he misses his friend Coutinho, and that he wishes his buddy nothing but the best in Spain.
Interestingly enough, check out this revelation from Coutinho in postgame.
“My first goal for Liverpool was also set up by (Suarez),” said Coutinho.
“I hope I can help him and Leo [Messi] to score goals, too. They have been great since I got here and they’ve helped me fit in from the start. I feel really happy because I have been looking for that first goal since I got here — and finally I’ve got it,” the Brazilian said in an interview with Gol TV after the game.
