Jurgen Klopp Dismisses Franz Beckbenbauer’s Idea of Bayern Munich Move

Talk of Jurgen Klopp managing Germany, or Bayern Munich someday has been around for a long while, and it’s a discussion that will probably never go away as long as the German is managing football games. Bayern and German national team legend Franz Beckenbauer is nicknamed “Der Kaiser,” and that tells you all that you need to know about the weight his opinion carries.

Kaiser Beckenbauer would like to see the Liverpool manager lead Bayern someday, saying: “Jurgen Klopp at FC Bayern. That would be the highlight. Jurgen was the one who taught the Germans how to play football quickly.”

Heading into the weekend clash at Fulham FC, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp lavished heavy praise upon central defender Joel Matip for his displays during an injury riddled patch.

“He has really stepped up,” the German said. “From me he cannot get more praise, he’s an outstanding player and he did unbelievably against Bayern. We were unlucky with the centre-back injuries but hopefully this is all nearly sorted.”

Liverpool FC at Fulham Injury Report: Henderson, Keita, Gomez, Schurrle, Mawson

liverpool fc home kit

Liverpool FC visits Fulham on Sunday in a match-up of two teams that reside at opposite ends of the Premier League spectrum. The Reds sit second and still have everything to play for, while the Craven Cottagers are second from bottom and essentially staring at a 99.999% chance of getting relegated.

Safe to say they have nothing left to play for but pride in this one. This series has been extremely one-sided recently with Liverpool winning the last five, out-scoring the London side 16-3 on aggregate.

Pep Guardiola Openly Rooting for Bayern Munich Against Liverpool

pep guardiola

A score draw against Bayern Munich tonight would be enough to get Liverpool through to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals, joining their Premier League brethren Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, City boss Pep Guardiola is not showing country comradeship and pulling for Liverpool. Instead he’s backing the Reds’ opponents, the club that he led to so much glory from 2013-2016.

Jurgen Klopp Says Liverpool Don’t Feel League Title Drought Pressure

You probably already know that the last time Liverpool won an England top flight title, it was in 1990, before the Premier League in its current incarnation was even born. You also know that the Reds have yet to win a trophy since Jurgen Klopp replaced Brendan Rodgers as manager in October of 2015.

These are facts that everyone is well aware of, and don’t really require mentioning, except for providing context of the Jurgen Klopp news conference today. The German’s side had led the Premier League by as many as seven points, but these days they trail Manchester City by one point.

Jurgen Klopp Fires Back at Vocal “Manchester United pundits”

jurgen klopp

Ahead of tonight’s round of 16 UEFA Champions League clash at Bayern Munich, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp dismissed the “advice” put forth by Manchester United club legend and current pundit Gary Neville. The Class of ’92 member believes the Reds should take a dive in the Champions League, where they are currently 0-0 on aggregate after the home leg versus Bayern, so they could instead focus on the push for the Premier League title.

Liverpool are currently one point behind Manchester City, who reside at the top of the table.

Are Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool FC at their best when their backs are against the wall? Do they thrive under pressure? I guess we’ll see now that have work to do in order to join their English brethren Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United in qualifying through to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.

The Reds are on to the road leg of their round of 16 tie with Bayern Munich, with the home leg having resulted in a goalless draw. Let’s take a look at who Klopp may select in his first team Wednesday night, as the Merseyside club look to move closer towards securing that first piece of silverware won during the German’s regime at Anfield.

Liverpool FC at Bayern Munich Injury Report: Robben, Tolisso, Milner, TAA, Gomez

With Real Madrid, three time holders, now eliminated from the current UEFA Champions League competition, the highest finisher still alive from last year’s tournament is Liverpool FC. By no means are they the favorites though, or even close, as the odds makers and projectionists see their opponent Wednesday night, Bayern Munich, to beat them and advance to the quarterfinals.

The two teams played to a goalless draw in the Anfield leg, so from an aggregate stand point, the Reds will have a good advantage due to the fact that they did not concede any away goals.

Liverpool FC Starting XI Prediction vs Burnley FC

With four draws in their last six Premier League fixtures, Liverpool have no one to blame but themselves for letting Manchester City pass them at the top of the table. Yes, the Citizens are red hot right now, but having been in the league penthouse for multiple months, Jurgen Klopp’s men should have never let it come to this.

What will happen tomorrow? Will the Reds take care of business? Or will we hear more excuses (probably weather related again) from Klopp? This will know for sure- nothing less than all three points from this fixture is acceptable. Let’s take a look at who Klopp may start in the quest to obtain them.

Liverpool FC vs Burnley Injury Report: Milner, Gomez, Lovren, Lennon, Defour

liverpool fc anfield

Liverpool FC, having now fallen out of first place for the first time in 2019, can’t afford any more slip-ups in the Premier League title race. Although just a point behind Manchester City, they are now in the very unenviable positions of being the chasers, not the chased.

They have to take all three points from as many games as possible during the nine match run-in. Anything less than a win against Burnley, a lower table side that will no doubt park the bus tomorrow against the Reds, would be disastrous. Liverpool have no excuses this season for not finally ending their title drought, but that hasn’t stopped manager Jurgen Klopp from making all kinds of crazy excuses for losses lately.

Plain Sailing for Man City with Liverpool’s Title Dream on the Rocks

By Tom McDonough

Jurgen Klopp will be hoping that Liverpool aren’t stranded in second place for the remainder of the season after surrendering the top spot in the Premier League. For the first time in months, the Reds find their advantage at the summit of the league taken away after Pep Guardiola’s troops stormed to the top.

Klopp’s team are now in unfamiliar territory going into the last nine games of the season and will have to chase down Man City, which – it must be said – is one of the more unenviable tasks in world football.

Jurgen Klopp Blames Goalless Draw with Everton on the Wind

jurgen klopp

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp put an interesting spin on the goalless Merseyside derby today that left Liverpool second in the Premier League table. A chance arose for the Reds to go one point ahead of Manchester City at the top of the table today with a win over local arch-rival Everton.

Instead, the 0-0 draw left Klopp’s side one point behind, and after the game Klopp made comments that essentially blamed the elements for the result, while stating his awareness that his comments won’t likely go over very well.
