The UEFA Champions League Final row between Real Madrid team captain Sergio Ramos and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has now entered its next round. The actual match took place back on May 26, but the war of words is still going strong.

Klopp criticized the Madrid defender yet again last week, and at least three times this summer over his controversial entanglements with Liverpool superstar winger Mohamed Salah and goalkeeper Loris Karius that left both Reds players seriously hurt. Sergio Ramos has certainly done his part to keep the beef going as he’s shown zero remorse for his actions and still maintains his innocence in the incidents in question.

After Opening Week, Liverpool Seem to be Man City’s Biggest Challenger for the Title

liverpool man city

Week one of the Premier League is now in the books, and thus we’ve had a chance to get a first 2018-19 impression of every team in the English top flight. The weekend’s results really didn’t show anything that would contradict the book makers’ preseason sentiment on who could win the league title.

Manchester City, coming off a historical championship winning season that saw them break league records for title winning margin, points, goals, wins and goal differential, are the heavy favorites. Liverpool, last year’s fourth place finisher who finished fourth last season, have the most favorable odds of anybody else in the league by a healthy margin.

Liverpool FC Starting XI Prediction, Injury Report vs West Ham United

liverpool fc anfield

Liverpool FC, essentially the champions of the summer transfer window, will begin their 2018-19 Premier League campaign at home against West Ham United. This will be our first chance to see if their blockbuster transfer business will pay dividends or not.

Yes, they spent £179 million to improve their team, but last season there was a 25 point gap between the Reds and league champions Manchester City. You can see why Reds boss Jurgen Klopp compared his side to Rocky and City to Ivan Drago from classic sports film “Rocky IV.”

Jurgen Klopp Compares Liverpool to Rocky, Manchester City to Ivan Drago

Rocky Balboa ended the Cold War

There are many fans of the Rocky movie franchise who believe that part IV was the best film in the series, as it most easily lends itself to the classic David vs. Goliath motif. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is only the latest sports figure to reference the classic tale from 1987 of the American Rocky Balboa (portrayed by Sylvester Stallone) upsetting the heavily favored Soviet Ivan Drago (played by Dolph Lundgren) in Moscow on Christmas Eve.

Rocky is more than a series of sports films, it’s a vital part of the tourist economy in the city of Philadelphia.

danny ings

A player moving FROM Liverpool TO Southampton, and not the other way around? Yes, it actually happened, and it happened on summer transfer window deadline day 2018. Ings had been long linked with a move down to the south coast, but the switch didn’t get over the line until the very last minute.

News of the deal, which is a season long loan move that becomes a permanent transfer next summer, didn’t break until a couple hours after the window officially shut.

Liverpool FC Summer Transfer Window Synopsis, Analysis, Grade

british pounds

Liverpool don’t get a trophy for it, but they are certainly the champions of the off-season/preseason. Now the 2018-19 season should be the time to get that first piece of silverware of the Jurgen Klopp era, as they have a squad that’s locked and loaded.

With £179 million spent on new players this summer, the expectations are nothing short of ending the 28 year long Premier League title drought. You can’t really point to a true weakness anywhere in the side. The only question here is- have they done enough to close the gap at Manchester City- who are coming off a record breaking campaign?

’18-19 Premier League Predictions: Man City Champs, Liverpool 2nd, United 3rd

premier league

The new Premier League season kicks off in earnest this weekend, and Manchester United hosts Leicester City in the curtain raiser tomorrow night. Will we finally see a repeat league champion? It hasn’t happened since a Cristiano Ronaldo led United side accomplished the feat in 2008-09, the final year of a three peat for Sir Alex Ferguson’s juggernaut.

Looking at the record setting season that Manchester City just accomplished, plus the fact that they have strengthened this off-season, we’re picking Pep Guardiola to accomplish something that no one has been able to do in close to a decade.

Manager Jurgen Klopp is confident that the recent transfer business Liverpool Football Club has conducted will help encourage star players to stay on board for the long term.
