Wolves Diogo Jota Set for £45million Move to Liverpool

On the day that Thiago Alcantara was formally announced as Liverpool’s second signing of the summer transfer window, widespread reports emerged on who the third will be. Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Diogo Jota is headed to the Merseyside club, reportedly for a fee of  £45 million ($58m).

Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo has confirmed the news: “Liverpool are going to have a great player and boy, and Ki has a bright future ahead of him.”

Liverpool won a 4-3 thriller against Leeds United in the season opener last Saturday. Since then, it has been mostly good news for Jurgen Klopp’s squad. The big news out of Merseyside this week was the apparent signing of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich.

The two clubs have reportedly agreed to a £20 million fee, plus add-ons and he’s on his way to Liverpool for his medical. The Spanish midfielder provides Liverpool with the creativity they have lacked in the midfield since Coutinho left.

It’s a strange transfer battle that is set to come to an end soon. Liverpool have spent the least out of any Premier League big six club this summer transfer window, but they are closing in on acquiring Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich.

Timo Werner Says Choosing Chelsea over Liverpool was a Hard Decision

Week two of the Premier League regular season brings 20/21’s first true headliner fixture- reigning champs Liverpool FC visiting summer transfer window “champions” Chelsea. One of the reasons Chelsea have “won” the summer transfer market was their ability to persuade forward Timo Werner to select them over Liverpool.

The German was strongly linked with the Reds while he was still with RB Leipzig, but made the switch the Stamford Bridge instead, joining up for £47.6 million. He is one of six new players (and counting) to join the Blues this silly season, as they have splashed the cash to the tune of over 200 million GBP.

Pulisic Misses Chelsea Win Due to Injury, Doubtful for Liverpool Clash

Chelsea were without a handful of their star players tonight, including Christian Pulisic, but they still managed to win easily at Brighton 3-1. Getting goals from Reece James, Kurt Zouma and Jorginho, manager Frank Lampard got a season with massive expectations started out on the right foot.

In the postgame press conference, he confirmed what had been suspected- Pulisic suffered an injury recovery setback in training this week. Although it’s been deemed only a minor setback, he still could miss out on next week’s blockbuster clash vs Liverpool.

Frank Lampard Responds to Jurgen Klopp Remarks on Transfer Spending

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has responded to the transfer spending comments made by his Liverpool counterpart, Jurgen Klopp. Ahead of his side’s season-opening win this weekend, Klopp hit out at the free-spending ways of both Manchester City and Chelsea.

“For some clubs it seems to be less important how uncertain the future is because they are owned by countries, owned by oligarchs, and that is the truth. We are a different kind of club,” the German said.

Jurgen Klopp Not too Worried about Defensive Problems

Liverpool FC beat Leeds United 4-3 yesterday in a season opening match-up of titleists. Leeds, who won the Championship division title last season and are now back in the top flight for the first time in 16 years, kept stride for stride with the reigning Premier League champions until the final minutes of regulation.

Coming back from a goal down, on three occasions, the game was knotted up at 3 until Mohamed Salah converted from the spot, in the 88′, to complete his hat trick. It was a very entertaining, high-scoring affair, and the most exciting game of the season opening weekend thus far.

Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp has spoken on the transfer narratives linking his club to Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara. Liverpool have only made one signing so far this summer, and they have spent the least money, by far, of the big six.
