Rhys Williams Injury Further Deepens Liverpool Crisis in Back Line

The international break from hell continues for Liverpool FC. Rhys Williams, who has made five appearances for Liverpool this season and played in all three Champions League group-stage matches, is the latest Reds player to suffer an injury.

Given all the key absentees they already have in the back line, this news comes at the absolute worst time. Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk are out for most, if not all of the season. Jordan Henderson Adds to Long Liverpool Injury List

It’s looking more likely that Liverpool will have to play and even start some of the youngsters when they take on first place Leicester City on Sunday.

Team Captain Jordan Henderson is the latest to suffer an injury or ailment, coming off at halftime, in the UEFA Nations League loss to Belgium yesterday. England manager Gareth Southgate told reporters that he wasn’t sure if it was a hamstring issue or not.

Mo Salah Tests Positive for COVID, Doubt vs Leicester City

Once again, the international break has been extremely cruel to Liverpool FC. Superstar winger Mo Salah has tested positive for the coronavirus, making him highly unlikely to play, eight days from now, against first place Leicester City.

According to the Egyptian Football Association: “The medical survey conducted showed that our international player Mohamed Salah [of] Liverpool was infected with the Coronavirus after his survey came back positive.”

Joe Gomez Undergoes Knee Surgery, Could Miss Rest of Season

For defending Premier League champions Liverpool FC, there is a full blown injury crisis on their hands. The worst of it is at the back, where they will be without three first team level defenders in Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold for the time being.

The latest setback is Gomez, who suffered tendon damage in his left knee while training with England yesterday. It was a non-contact injury. Liverpool have not yet ruled him out for the rest of the season, but it is highly probable that he doesn’t play again in 20/21.

Joe Gomez Suffers Serious Injury, Liverpool Fitness Crisis Deepens

Losing, arguably, the best centre back in the world for the season in Virgil Van Dijk was just the first major blow to Liverpool FC’s title defence. The Reds took another major hit today when it was reported Joe Gomez suffered a serious knee injury during training with the England national team.

England boss Gareth Southgate eluded to the seriousness of it when he confirmed it was a non-contact injury. Given that information, it would appear that severe damage to the muscles or ligaments surrounding the knee will likely be found in the scans. He has since been withdrawn from the England squad and will return to Liverpool’s new training facility for further treatment.

Pep Guardiola Demanding More as Liverpool Clash Looms

Manchester City continued their dominance in the Champions League competition after beating Olympiakos on Tuesday night. Yet speaking to BT Sport after the game, manager Pep Guardiola demanded his players be more clinical in front of goal.

City got their third successive win in Europe as they emerged 3-0 winners over the Greek side. The Etihad stadium saw goals from Ferran Torres, Gabriel Jesus and Joao Cancelo as the home team strengthened their stronghold over their group.
