The Reds topped Sunderland 2-0 on Saturday, but it came at a cost as Phillipe Coutinho was injured in the match and Roberto Firmino limped off late. Tuesday, they host Leeds United in the League Cup semifinals.
Jurgen Klopp is most likely set on having a completely new side on Tuesday, much like he ran out against Tottenham in the previous round.
Simon Mignolet has been relegated to midweek keeper and he will return to goal on Tuesday.
In front of him will be a back-4 that was the same as it was against Tottenham – Trent Alexander-Arnold, Lucas Leiva, Ragnar Klavan and Alberto Moreno.
Adam Lallana is still out with injury, so it is unlikely Klopp will want to risk any of the mids that started on Saturday. Kevin Stewart and Ovie Ejaria got the starts the last time, and Marko Grujic should join them Tuesday in place of Georginio Wijnaldum.
The Liverpool attack that has been so good at the beginning of the season suffered injury blows this week. Daniel Sturridge was unavailable with a calf injury on Saturday and wasn’t able to train on Sunday.
Coutinho left on a stretcher and Firmino limped off, although the later should be OK.
That limits the choices for Tuesday’s mid-week clash. Sheyi Ojo should start on the left with Ben Woodburn making the start on the right. Woodburn made his Liverpool debut on Saturday. Divock Origi will lead the attack. Ideally Klopp would rest Origi especially with the other injuries, but there is no one else to turn to.
