Nemanja Matic Hopes United Can End Man City’s Quadruple Hopes

Manchester United will kick off in a few minutes at Wolverhampton Wanderers, in a FA Cup quarterfinal clash. It’s one of two competitions (the UEFA Champions League being the other) where United are through to the quarters and still retain hopes of winning a trophy this season.

Long out of the running for the Premier League title, United’s top priority now is to finish in the top four and make sure they stay in UCL next season.

According to central midfielder Nemanja Matic, winning a trophy is just as important too. Winning a piece of silverware would have an added bonus too- it would prohibit arch-rival Manchester City from making history and winning the quadruple.

Would this be an added bonus for Matic and company?

“Of course,” the Serbian said in an interview with ESPN.

“Man City are a great team and they are fighting for the title and, like us, in the Champions League and the FA Cup. For sure they will try to win everything but we are ready to compete with them.”

“When you finish the season with a trophy it’s different. We will try to do that. We have the Champions League to play and the FA Cup and Man United always wants to do the best that is possible.”

“We want to be in the top four and we will try to do everything.”

We have the quality to do that.”
