The gossip filtering through from Metro today says that Liverpool are prepared to sell striker Mario Balotelli in January. Spending just £16 million pounds, it wasn’t that much of a risk. But the low risk investment from three months ago has also become low reward. Metro suggests that Anfield could be prepared to cut their losses and talk terms with Serie A club Napoli once the transfer window reopens in the new year.
The Mario Balotelli signing has pretty much been a bust for the Reds.
In close to 1,000 minutes of playing time on the pitch with LFC, he has but two goals. Last year, Liverpool got 31 goals from Luis Suarez and 21 from Daniel Sturridge. Right now, you see what life is like when both are missing from the Liverpool FC attack. So it’s understandable why the Mario Balotelli signing was so significant for them.
Unfortunately it’s not working out.
On a lighter Mario Balotelli note, this comes from an interview with Sport Magazine UK. @FinallyMario also has an interesting quote about Liverpool FC Manager Brendan Rodgers, and his not being a dickhead.
“He is very open, everybody can talk to him – but first he looks at the person, and second he looks at the footballer. With Brendan, you need to be a good person – you don’t have to be, how do you say it, a dickhead.”
Well, that’s good.
Nobody wants to play for a dickhead.
