Liverpool welcomes in Bournemouth on Wednesday just a few days after a comfortable 3-1 in the Merseyside Derby against Everton.
Liverpool sits third in the table and a win on Wednesday would be valuable in the race for the top-4. The Cherries can back to stun Liverpool 4-3 earlier in the season coming back from a 3-1 deficit.
That was the last game in goal for Loris Karius, as he let in a couple of howlers to cost Liverpool points. Simon Mignolet has been the man since then, and has been solid.
Here’s the link to the Liverpool injury report.
Liverpool’s back-four has been better as of late, and was strong again against Everton. Dejan Lovren returned from injury and didn’t look like he missed a beat in bottling up Romelu Lukaku.
Liverpool’s midfield was a question mark heading into last weekend, with Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana missing due to injury. The trio of Wijnaldum, Lucas and Can played well against Everton and the Reds seemed to get some good look when Emre Can wasn’t seriously injured after a nasty tackle. The trio should remain intact at the moment, and Liverpool don’t have many other options regardless.
Liverpool suffered a major injury blow when Sadio Mane was forced off against Everton. It is still unclear his status for the remainder of the year, but he is definitely out of Wednesday’s contest. Divock Origi came on after the injury and scored shortly after.
He should get the start again, but should start in Mane’s spot on the right, with Firmino staying up top where he is more comfortable. Daniel Sturridge should also be available after missing a lot of time with a hip injury, but it would be tough to ask him to start immediately.
