Former Barcelona and currently banished Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes, 32, was the only acquisition the club made last January transfer window. His deal was the only one of consequence for the Red Devils a year ago. Thus far, United have accomplished pretty much nothing this transfer window. However, they may have secured a deal to let Valdes go.
It’s official- Victor Valdes has secured a loan move to Belgian side Standard Liege, ending his loan spell at Old Trafford. Perhaps this January transfer window will be just like the last window- Valdes will be the only move of consequence that actually gets made.

Three days ago, Valdes Tweeted a picture of United’s training ground along with the phrase saying: “Thank you all for your support during these months of hard work for me. I will never forget! See you soon!”
Today Valdes’ departure was confirmed by a statement on Man United.com reading:
“Manchester United and Standard Liege have reached agreement for the temporary transfer of goalkeeper Victor Valdes, effective until the end of the current season.”
“The Spain international and former Barcelona shot-stopper signed for the Reds in January 2015 and has made two appearances for the club — making his debut as a substitute in the penultimate game of last season at home to Arsenal (1-1), and then starting the final match of 2014-15 away to Hull which ended in a goalless draw.”
Valdes is finally getting his wish, as back on November 26th he Tweeted that he is “fighting to be free.”

Last summer, Manager Louis Van Gaal stated that the Red Devils were dead set on selling Victor Valdes. This decision was reached after Victor Valdes chest-thumped himself out of a reserve match in the 2014-2015 Season.
As punishment, Valdes was left out of the squad that embarked on a pre-season tour of the United States. Reports coming from the team’s stable indicate that Victor Valdes turned up to train at Carrington only to find his training gear moved to the dressing room dedicated to Manchester United’s Under 21 team.
When the Red Devils announced their squad numbers for the 2015-2015 premier league season Valdes was in for a rude surprise! The famed former Barcelona keeper was not handed any number!
With David de Gea having just signed a four year contract extension, there was no hope for Victor Valdes to ever get first team reps. He has a year left on his deal, so it’s good for him to escape the proverbial depth chart Siberia that he’s in.
