The January transfer window is open for 12 more days of business, but Manchester United are not doing any shopping. There aren’t many, if any transfer rumor stories circulating in the Twitterverse, blogosphere and media world pertaining to any United buys this winter transfer window.
There has been sale some activity of course though. We just learned yesterday that winger Memphis Depay is off to Lyon, and earlier in the window midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin was sold to Everton.
Defender Antonio Valencia has been a very critical player for United this season, as he’s been forced to play out of position in order to stabilize the right back slot. With numerous defenders going down with injury at various points this season, Valencia has been a rock for Manager Jose Mourinho.
The club have now rewarded him with a one year contract extension. Confirming the deal, Valencia said: “Another year to give everything for the greatest club in the world Manchester United. Happy to announce I’ve renewed my contract ’til 2018.”
