Former Bayern Munich star Bastian Schweinsteiger was Manchester United’s number one midfield target this summer. When the Red Devils closed the deal and signed him, he became the first German in the club’s history.
Considered one of the better deals done by Old Trafford this summer, Schweinsteiger is both a veteran leader and a fan favorite. However, his form has declined as of late, and United will be without him for their upcoming fixtures against Bournemouth, Norwich and Stoke. The German faces a three match ban.
The Sun claimed Tuesday that Louis van Gaal criticized Bastian Schweinsteiger’s recent performances for Manchester United. That’s before Schweinsteiger turned in an effort that earned him 5s for individual match ratings by some major outlets. Schweinsteiger’s decision to elbow Winston Reid during Saturday’s 0-0 draw with West Ham, is really going to hurt the club now.
There’s already significant injuries in midfield with Ander Herrera and Morgan Schneiderlin.
That day, the FA punishment was handed out to Schweinsteiger. He’ll face a three game match ban. Today we learned that he will accept the ruling.
The FA said in a statement: “The matter was referred to a panel of three former elite referees who each reviewed the video footage independently of one another to determine whether they considered it a sending-off offence.
“For an FA charge to follow the decision by the panel must be unanimous. The player has until noon on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, to reply to the charge.”
