There is one major Tottenham Hotspur transfer rumor circulating in the Twitterverse, blogosphere, cyberspace and media world today. A source close to the club has told ESPN FC that Spurs are considering a move to acquire Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala.
The Bristol, Connecticut, USA based publication writes that:
If Spurs can agree a difficult deal for the France international centre-back, they will listen to offers for Kevin Wimmer, who signed a new five-year contract last month.
The club are in talks with Crystal Palace about a £15 million move for Wilfried Zaha and are still working on a deal for Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, the Marseille winger.
Spurs have had an active summer transfer window, acquiring Vincent Jannsen and Victor Wanyama. They also saw their Federico Fazio loan end, only to send him out on loan again.
They’ve also sold DeAndre Yedlin, Nabil Bentaleb and Alex Pritchard. Between now and the closure of the summer transfer window, Clinton Njie, Ryan Mason and Nacer Chadli could also all be send packing from White Hart Lane
Getting back to Eliaquim Mangala, the 25-year-old Frenchman is out of favor at City. He didn’t feature in the fixtures that have been played in the Pep Guardiola era, and he’s been considered a flop since arriving from Porto for a whopping £32 million in the summer of 2014.
Now with John Stones on board, it’s not expected that Eliaquim Mangala will be see his playing time increase at the Etihad any time soon. However, at White Hart Lane he might be a great fit.
