Jan Vertonghen Departs Spurs, Dejan Lovren Leaves Liverpool for Zenit

Once Championship Sunday is in the books, the exodus of Premier League footballers to other destinations begins. Chelsea manager Frank Lampard confirmed yesterday that Pedro will be leaving the club once the Blues have played their final game of 2019-20.

Today, we discuss two central defenders on the move. Tottenham Hotspur star Jan Vertonghen is leaving White Hart Lane, and he’s now available as a free agent. Meanwhile Liverpool havs sold centre back Dejan Lovren to Zenit St. Petersburg for reportedly £10.9 million.

Tottenham Hotspur Starting XI Prediction at Crystal Palace

Tottenham Hotspur, who need a win and maybe help too in order to get into the Europa League competition next season, are facing the right opponent at the right time. Spurs visit Crystal Palace, who they have beaten in 11 of the past 13 league clashes. They haven’t lost at Selhurst Park since January of 2015.

They also come into this one finishing the season on a strong note while the Eagles have lost their last seven. It’s a London derby where all the momentum is with the visitors. Although Spurs will finish outside the top four for the first time in five years, Jose Mourinho knows he can salvage something from his first season in charge at White Hart Lane if they better Wolverhampton Wanderers result this weekend.

Tottenham at Crystal Palace Team News: Alli, Dier, Milivojevic

Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho and his club have some work to do if they are to clinch European football for next season. Wolves are one point ahead of Spurs for the final Europa League qualification slot as we head into Championship Sunday.

Depending on how it all unfolds this weekend, Mourinho may need some help from Chelsea, a club he’s managed for two previous stints, while his side visits Crystal Palace. Tottenham are up one on goal differential over Wolves, so if both Chelsea and Spurs win, then Tottenham are in UEL next season.

jose mourinho

Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has said that his former club, Manchester United, deserve to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, but they’ve also been rather lucky at the same time. Perhaps he can do a solid favor the Red Devils by getting a result against Leicester City, the team they currently chasing for fourth place, on Sunday.

As Tottenham Hotspur stage their final home game of the Premier League season, there will be no fans in the seats. However, come October, there is hope that some fans will be allowed to return to matches. United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson made the announcement today.

Of course, fan attendance would be contingent on having COVID safe measures in place, and the success of “pilot” events in August that will serve as a testing ground for this sort of thing.

Tottenham vs Leicester Team News: Fuchs, Maddison, Chilwell, Alli

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has nothing short of a full blown injury crisis on his hands for the final two matches of the season.

Tottenham at Newcastle Team News: Aurier, Ndombele, Alli, Hayden

Currently seven points adrift of the fourth and final UEFA Champions League qualification slot, with only three games left, Tottenham Hotspur are certainly the outsiders in the top four race. At least, for their sake, their final three fixtures provide winnable games against Newcastle and Crystal Palace, along with a chance to take points from one of the teams they are chasing, Leicester City.

To have any realistic shot of making the UCL though Spurs will need to win all three and hope that several of their rivals collapse in form over the run in, a combination of events that seems highly unlikely. Up first is a trip Geordie Land.

Champions League Qualification Race Headed Towards Exciting Finish

The Premier League title may be decided, but the battle for a top four spot is as intense as ever, and as this unusual season draws to a conclusion, there is plenty of hard-fought football to play out.

Given that Liverpool and Manchester City have long ago sewn up their positions in the top four, this means that six teams are fighting for two qualification spots. The tussle over the final three rounds of Premier League action promises to be intense, and not surprisingly, the betting on a top four finish at these high ranked football bookies can yield some very close odds.    [Read more…]

Tottenham Hotspur Starting XI Prediction vs Arsenal FC

It’s a north London derby unlike any of that we have seen in quite awhile; but not in a good way. At least we had the mini-feud between Jose Mourinho and one of the Arsenal’s official club social media accounts earlier this week to add intrigue and appeal to this one. Both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal FC have seen their UEFA Champions League dreams for next season all but dashed at this point.

Actually, both sides have quite a bit of work to do to even make it into the Europa League qualification zone. At least with Arsenal, the arrow is starting to point up, as they have played much better recently, but they certainly came out of the restart gates cold.

Tottenham Hotspur Must Retain Tanguy Ndombele Past this Season

Tanguy Ndombele could be one of the most intriguing midfielders available in the transfer market ahead of the 2020-21 season. The French playmaker has not been able to settle at Tottenham as many expected, and several EPL predictions have suggested he could leave the club just one year after joining from Olympique Lyon.

FC Barcelona are reportedly keen in making a move for the 23-year-old. However, the Spurs would be making a huge mistake if they end up parting ways with Ndombele after not knowing for sure what they truly have in him.

Tottenham Hotspur Starting XI Prediction at AFC Bournemouth

Tottenham Hotspur have owned the Premier League series with AFC Bournemouth, winning seven and losing just once in their previous nine, but they did suffer defeat in their last trip to the Vitality Stadium.

Also, their road form has been severely lacking for awhile now. It appears that their chances of qualifiying for Champions League are by the wayside now. As for Bournemouth, they’re suffering through a very injury-riddled campaign and it’s hard to imagine where or when they might win again.
