Tottenham Hotspur Starting XI Prediction vs Watford FC

Tottenham Hotspur could find themselves just two points off of fourth place in the Premier League table with a victory on New Year’s Day against Watford. Yep! The same Spurs side I derided and chastised for almost the entire first half of the 2021/22 season, both on this website and the After Extra Time podcast could begin 2022 within touching distance of a Champions League qualification place.

Their transformation under Antonio Conte, whilst not surprising, has been stunning. They have gone from the side that does the least running per match in the league to the side that does the most running per match in the league by quite some distance.

A resurgent Tottenham suffered a disappointing 1-1 draw last time out against Southampton. Despite having plenty of chances, Spurs just couldn’t get that decisive second goal to secure the three points. They’ll be hoping for a bit more luck in front of the goal this weekend as they face Watford in New Year’s Day Premier League action.

The Lilywhites do not have a tremendous recent record when traveling to Vicarage Road. They have only won two of their last ten matches away from home against the Moosemen.

Tottenham Hotspur Starting XI Prediction at Southampton FC

Tottenham heads to the south coast to St. Mary’s to take on Southampton in match week 20 of the English Premier League. Both sides are coming off of victories in the Boxing Day round. Spurs dismantled a COVID-affected Crystal Palace, in a match that should not have gone ahead, 3-0. Southampton secured a surprise victory in their Boxing Day fixture, taking care of West Ham United 3-2 in a Christmas goal-fest.

In the last twelve years, Tottenham has been brilliant in their final calendar year fixtures. Since 2009 they have lost only once in their final fixture of the year. The one blip on that impeccable record is a 3-1 defeat to Wolverhampton in 2018.

Tottenham Team News vs Southampton: Gil, Sessegnon, Romero

Tottenham is coming hot off the heels of a 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace this past weekend. It was quite controversial, the game even going ahead, because it had been widely reported that the match was going to be postponed. Now they face Southampton just a mere 48 hours later; madness.

That they did not postpone this fixture is yet another example of how the Premier League has been almost amateur in its handling of this new COVID outbreak. Spurs were still at their training base, awaiting word from the Premier League, on the morning of that fixture.

Tottenham Team News vs Crystal Palace: Sessegnon, Romero, COVID Update

Tottenham Hotspur hosts South London rivals Crystal Palace this weekend. Spurs seem to have turned a corner in recent weeks since their return from a COVID-19 spell in the wilderness. Time away from playing was spent well. The Lilywhites look almost unrecognizable in their two matches upon their return. Harry Kane seems back in form and Antonio Conte’s blueprint is showing up in the way that this side is playing.

In Crystal Palace, they face a side looking to do a league double over them for the first time. To give some context, this is their 46th match against one another. London derbies have not been kind to Spurs recently.

Tottenham Hotspur Starting XI Prediction vs Crystal Palace

Tottenham will look to continue their excellent current form as they welcome fellow London club Crystal Palace to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Spurs will look for revenge after losing the reverse clash in South London earlier this season 3-0. Spurs’ home form under Antonio Conte has been nothing short of phenomenal.

They remain undefeated at home under the tutelage of the firebrand Italian. Their last league home game was one of the most entertaining matches in recent memory, against title contenders in Liverpool. After that fixture, they secured a semi-final appearance with a 2-1 victory in the Carabao Cup over East London club West Ham.

Tottenham Hotspur Starting XI Prediction vs West Ham United (League Cup)

Spurs were finally back in action at the weekend as they faced Liverpool in the Premier League. What ensued was a Christmas classic as the unfancied Tottenham outfit secured a point against the title challenging Reds. Harry Kane was back to his best in the Liverpool clash, scoring a goal and setting another one up.

He also squandered a bunch of chances too, but it was still nice to see the England captain back to his very best after a subpar season thus far. Many names that you wouldn’t normally see starting in the Premier League, regularly, also featured for Tottenham including Harry Winks and Dele Alli. The former, in particular, was impressive.

Tottenham Team News vs West Ham (League Cup): Gollini, Gil, Hojbjerg, Scarlett

Tottenham Hotspur now turn their focus to the League Cup and fellow London club West Ham United after just being involved in one of the most entertaining matches of the season. The score draw at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against title challenging Liverpool was just the tonic the club needed after COVID threatened to derail their entire season.

After a tumultuous start to the campaign, things are now looking up for Tottenham. If they win all of their league games in hand, they would get to the coveted fourth position in the table. Win here and they will contest a semi-final in a competition that they have a genuine chance of winning. Tottenham won their last EFL Cup encounter with the Hammers, defeating the East London club 3-1 at the Olympic Stadium in the fourth round of the 2018/19 edition.

West Ham Starting XI Prediction vs Tottenham (League Cup Quarterfinal)

West Ham is back in action following the postponement of their Premier League clash against Norwich at the weekend because of COVID-19. The weekend off may just have come in handy for David Moyes’ men, as the hectic festive fixture list has seen their form take an alarming dip.

In midweek, West Ham will look to defeat Spurs for the third consecutive time. If they get that done here, in this League Cup quarterfinal clash, it would be the first time that they’ve beaten their London rivals three in a row since 2014. Interestingly enough, that three-match stretch included a League Cup victory away from home as well.

West Ham Team News vs Tottenham: Defensive Injury Crisis Deepens

After an incredible start in the early season, West Ham has crashed back down to Earth in recent weeks. Like many other sides before them, the Christmas fixture pile-up has seen them settle right where most expected them to be in the Premier League table. The dream of UEFA Champions League qualification remains just that, a dream.

They will head to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in as poor form as they have experienced over the last two seasons, with only one win in their last five matches, across all competitions.

Tottenham Hotspur Starting XI Prediction vs Liverpool FC

Tottenham Hotspur returns to Premier League action this weekend. They couldn’t have asked for a more difficult return from their COVID enforced layoff as they take on a rampaging Liverpool side who are in formidable form. Tottenham will need to reverse a terrible recent record against the Reds. The North London club has won just once in their previous 17 fixtures against the Merseyside club.

Much has been said about Spurs home form since Antonio Conte took over and they will hope to keep that record intact here. A lot will hinge on the return to fitness of the players who have been out with COVID with many first-team stars stricken with the illness during the current outbreak.

Tottenham Team News vs Liverpool: Reguilon, COVID Infections

Tottenham Hotspur finally return to Premier League action this weekend after a COVID outbreak saw them essentially drop out of the Conference League and postpone a couple of Premier League matches.

The postponements see Spurs with at least two games in hand over most other sides in the league and if they gain maximum points in their catch-up fixtures, the fourth spot is theirs for the taking.
