Manchester United made a bigh risk/high reward hire in Louis van Gaal. His career arc at Old Trafford is following a path somewhat familiar to his previous gigs. Eventually his methods and leaderships style turns off some of his players. The same could be said about Jose Mourinho; especially today.
Both are brash, outspoken and opinionated during their press availabilities, and that often invites negative attention.
Would Manchester United really want to go down this road again in Mourinho?
If he can bring in players and win games, of course they would! Winning makes all the personality quirks and baggage that comes with the manager acceptable. Obviously, the Mourinho idea is first contingent on Old Trafford sacking Van Gaal before his contract expires at the end of next season.
(UPDATE: Mourinho will not be taking a sabbatical)
Right now, Odds Checker only has one sports book listed for taking action on the next Manchester United Manager, and that’s Bet Victor. Mourinho is overwhelmingly the new favorite at 11-10.
Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola are at 6-1, while Gary Neville checks in a 8-1. Ryan Giggs, who we’ve all been told to believe is the inevitable LVG successor at Manchester United, is only deemed 10-1.
Interesting.
