Crystal Palace came within 45 minutes of scoring their first win over Manchester United in the Premier League era of the series last season, but ultimately fell short. They led United 2-0 at Selhurst Park, but the Red Devils staged a second-half comeback for the ages to win 3-2.
United certainly cannot afford to stumble here as they currently sit in eight place, and desperately need to make up some ground in order to get back into the top four race. The last time out, they saw their league title hopes extinguished in blowout loss to Manchester City which a.) saw them drop to 12 points off the pace and b.) showcased the wide gap in current level of quality between the two Manchester clubs.
Now they need to play for qualification in next year’s UEFA Champions League.
