Jose Mourinho Blasts Referees, Journalist After Very Disappointing Draw

Throughout his career, Jose Mourinho has always taken pride in speaking his mind and being entertaining. No doubt he enjoys all the controversies that he stirs up from being so candid. Sometimes, this helps his club by creating  a sense of solidarity. Other times it creates trouble because it’s an unnecessary distraction.

United dropped two points at home today by drawing 0-0 with Hull City, a side that was in last place entering this match. It was a very low moment for United and Mourinho responded by doing whatever he could to deflect the attention elsewhere.

As he left his post match press conference Mourinho fired one last parting shot at reporter Martin Fisher: “If you don’t know football, you shouldn’t have a microphone.”

It wasn’t just the media that Mourinho set up as a target, he also sought to direct attention onto to the officials.

“The rules for me are different,” Mourinho insisted to Sky Sports

“I don’t want to speak much because I pay lots of fines. I pay more than others, much more than others.”

“For example, yesterday one manager was told by an official ‘I love your emotion’.

“Today [Wednesday] I was told to sit down or I have to go to the stands. On the pitch was the same. I don’t want to speak much because I don’t want to pay fines.”

Congrats Jose Mourinho, now we’re talking about the officials, and your deflections, instead of what we really should be discussing- like how your team still can’t finish off scoring chances, or how they’re grossly underachieving, especially considering how handsomely paid the roster is.

Mourinho tries, and succeeds, in getting people to talk about anything else other than how disappointing his sixth place club has been this season.
