The David Moyes Out airplane, more specifically the backlash against it, conveyed how many United supporters are still staunchly with Manager David Moyes. Your job is to stand by your manager as Sir Alex Ferguson said on his way out.

We’ve heard all season long about the backlash against Moyes, but what about the “silent majority” that supports him? Votes of confidence don’t make for as great of a story, but it’s there. And we saw it today. Manchester United scored a 4-1 victory over Aston Villa and with it Wayne Rooney restored confidence.

The striker netted twice as David Moyes’s side come from behind to score their first victory of the season over a side that currently resides in the top nine of the present standings. Towards the end of the complete domination of the Villans, the fans at Old Trafford sang “Every single one of us stands by David Moyes” and “you can stick your f***ing banner up your arse.”

As the David Moyes out plane flew over at kickoff for about 15 minutes (video, photos here) there were a few boos. And the fans at Stretford End fans sang ‘Every single one of us is behind David Moyes.’ Here are a couple funny memes in response in the David Moyes Out airplane, courtesy of Sir Alex Stand, a Manchester United fan account providing news, you can check out here. The David Moyes out airplane was a defining experience for the football club.

Nothing symbolizes the soap opera of the ’13-’14 season than the David Moyes out movement, best symbolized by the two airplanes rented out by United supporters to protest Manager David Moyes. Later, the second plane, the Paddy Power plane flew over with the banner “Fergie back in 6-1.” It was paid for by a sportsbook obviously looking to increase publicity for its business. Those are the odds about a return of Sir Alex Ferguson to return.

Here’s the statement of purpose from the blog that sponsored the David Moyes out plane.
