For 79 minutes, the score was Manchester United 1, Everton 0. Then came the time to cue the Ron Burgundy “that escalated quickly” meme. Henrik Mkhitaryan scored in the 83′, Romelu Lukaku in the ’89 and Anthony Martial in extra time (90’+2), and before you knew it, a close 1-0 contest had been transformed into a 4-0 laugher.

Here are the videos of that three goals in nine minutes barrage, which put United up to 16-2 in goal differential this Premier League season.

First we have Romelu Lukaku:

The big Belgian scored against his former team, and then did the “cupping my ear so that I can hear you better” celebration move. It was a “how do you like me now?” kind of motion, in response to crowd boos.

United held an advantage in shots, 16-7, with a shots on goal of 7-3. Everton finished up 51%-49% in possession. Here’s footage of the Anthony Martial goal on a penalty kick.

Martial converted the penalty that he himself won. Getting back to Lukaku, he made another gesture to the crowd, after the Mkhitaryan goal. This one indicated “shhhhhhh”
