Groin Injury Will Keep Marcus Rashford Out for Awhile

MARCUS RASHFORD

Manchester United have been hit by another injury at the position group where they can least afford it. Striker Marcus Rashford went down with a groin injury during United’s 2-0 loss at West Ham. After the loss, Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said that the English international will be out for awhile.

This leaves the side with literally zero centre forwards match fit at the current moment. Youngster Mason Greenwood missed the trip to London because of illness while Anthony Martial remains a long term injury absentee. Solskjaer is hopeful of having at least one of the two back for potential selection in the League Cup versus Rochdale at home on Wednesday night.

Solskjaer also hopes to have the pair back for when Arsenal comes in to Old Trafford next Monday night for next week’s headliner fixture in the Premier League.

“We will scan him [Rashford] tomorrow,” Solskjaer said on Sunday afternoon.

“He felt his groin so probably be out for a little while. I can update you later when I know a little more.

“It is just one of these moments. We’ve had, histrionically, loads of centre-backs of the last few years struggling with injuries.

“At the moment it is strikers. Hopefully Mason and Anthony will be back for Arsenal and hopefully one for Rochdale.”

Rashford and company are really in a tough spot right now, having sputtered in the first six games. They currently sit eighth place in the table.
