Arsenal and Chelsea Schadenfreude Ensues on Social Media After Bad Losses

I’m sure someone, somewhere on Twitter did the “hold my beer” bit regarding Arsenal and Chelsea today.

You know the routine- Chelsea: “we’re going to be the big London club to suffer a gut punch loss today,” Arsenal: “hold my beer.”

Chelsea were the first victims of the season for Crystal Palace, who not only achieved their first win, but also their first goal and first points! It’s made all the more amazing given that it came against the reigning league champions.

The Eagles came into this one with a mind-blowing and historically bad 0-17 goal differential on the season. The London side had played seven matches and lost all seven. They emerged with all three points, now just one point behind AFC Bournemouth for climbing out of the basement. Go here for much more on Chelsea falling to Palace, and how it all happened.

As for Arsenal, they left Vicarage Road as losers, getting thwarted by Tom Cleverley’s game winning stoppage-time goal. Meaning the men of Marco Silva have now leapfrogged Arsenal to move into the top four.

And that means Twitter is blowing up right now with a lot of tweets that fit one of two categories- Arsenal and Chelsea schadenfreude by fans of rival clubs (Manchester United supporters are really going wild with this) and Gooners feeling the pain and getting angry.

Let’s take a spin through the micro-blogging platform now and spotlight some of the better 140 or character less offerings in this vein. Start with the Arsenal fan suffering.

Spineless, toothless Arsenal, I want to see the Arsenal I fell in love with in 2003, no men all boys is what we have now.

And now the glee from fans of rival clubs:
