Chelsea Star Christian Pulisic to be Rested this International Break

Extremely in form Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic will get a chance for some rest and relaxation this international break. It’s well deserved too, and the 21-year-old American only had a few days of break in between the Gold Cup tournament this summer with the USMNT and reporting to Blues training camp.

And Pulisic’s last tour of international duty, in October, didn’t work out too well for both himself and his national team. However, it’s ancient history now as he’s got five goals in his last three games. He joins ex-Chelsea and current Liverpool star Mo Salah as the only Premier League players with five goals and five assists this season across all competitions.

With a resounding 3-1 win at Anfield today over Manchester City, Liverpool FC are firmly in the driver’s seat of the 2019-2020 Premier League title race. The win brought them eight points clear of second place Leicester City and third place Chelsea heading into the international break.

They are an even more astounding nine points ahead of reigning back-to-back champions Manchester City. Without a doubt, it’s their title to lose now. Former Chelsea and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho believes that Liverpool will take the title now, barring some kind of serious injury crisis.

Christian Pulisic Continues Hot Streak, Proving Early Doubters Wrong

Patience is a virtue. So many were quick to write off Christian Pulisic as his start at Chelsea began nightmarishly. He just couldn’t get into the team at first, and the depth chart situation looked bleak as the Blues are/were stacked at winger. However, Pulisic produced when given the chance as he racked up the assists when called upon.

Now he’s getting the goals to go along with it. He’s absolutely on fire right now. Capt. America scored his fifth goal in three games today, converting in the 79′ of Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Chelsea FC Starting XI Prediction vs Crystal Palace

Since September 22nd, when they fell 2-1 at the hands of Premier League table toppers and reigning European champions Liverpool, Chelsea FC have won every match but two, across all competitions. During that ten game span, in which Chelsea has outscored their opponents 28-12, their only blemishes are a UCL group stage draw with Ajax on Tuesday night and a loss to Manchester United in the League Cup last Wednesday.

They’ve won five in a row in the Premier League, where they currently sit fourth in the table entering Saturday’s London derby at home against Crystal Palace. The Eagles have had a surprisingly good season as well up to this point as they come into the clash in ninth place.

Chelsea Team News vs Crystal Palace: Mount, Barkley, Jorginho

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount underwent a scan, due to the ankle problem he encountered midway through the second half of his side’s 4-4 draw with Ajax on Tuesday night. Mount had to be helped off in the 60th minute of the match, and he now finds himself a doubt for Saturday when the Blues host Crystal Palace.

“They’ve strapped his ankle and hopefully it’s relatively minor but it’s one for the morning,” said manager Frank Lampard after the game. With Mount being called up for England duty this international break, it’s safe to say that the scan didn’t show any serious damage.

Chelsea Starting XI Prediction, Team News vs Ajax: Kante, Barkley, Christensen

Chelsea FC and Ajax have both taken six points from the first half of Champions League group stage play, with the English side sitting higher than the Dutch club by virtue of their 1-0 win in Amsterdam a couple weeks ago.

Now comes the rematch in London on Tuesday night, and it’s a battle of the two sides that will likely go through to the knockout round from group H. A win here, for either club, essentially gets then through to the next round with little, if any, work to do in the last two group stage games. So let’s preview this match by sorting through the team news, starting with the Blues.

Christian Pulisic Likely to Stay in Chelsea Lineup at Watford

It appears that Christian Pulisic has finally earned his place at Chelsea, and that his spot in the team is his to lose. He entered the win over Burnley last weekend looking for his first goal in a Chelsea shirt (although he did have five assists), and by the time the game was over, he had achieved a hat trick.

Pulisic certainly got off to a slow start at Chelsea, struggling to find his place in the team, but it appears that he’s arrived now. He’s hitting his stride in sync with the team as a whole, and manager Frank Lampard said he won’t “rotate for the sake of it” when it comes to his lineup. Why fix that which is not broken? Jose Mourinho Wants Arsenal FC Job According to Reports

jose mourinho

The heat is starting to get turned up on Arsenal FC manager Unai Emery. The club is lacking leadership, as the man voted team captain, Granit Xhaka, has been a disaster in the skipper’s role. Midway through year two of the Emery regime, the Gunners haven’t improved at all above where they were at the tail end of the Arsene Wenger era. There is already a fairly strong #EmeryOut contingent present within the base.

So if Emery were to actually be sacked, who would be next? Well, there is one guy out there who definitely wants the job- Jose Mourinho.

The League Cup isn’t the most captivating of competitions, but this next round, the round of 16, should be a lot of fun. In it you have two match-ups that are all big six, with Manchester United at Chelsea perhaps the clash that most observers will be looking forward to.

United have had the advantage in the series as of late, but the Blues are coming into their own right now, and their overall form has been vastly superior to that of United’s this season.
