Week two of the Premier League regular season brings 20/21’s first true headliner fixture- reigning champs Liverpool FC visiting summer transfer window “champions” Chelsea. One of the reasons Chelsea have “won” the summer transfer market was their ability to persuade forward Timo Werner to select them over Liverpool.

The German was strongly linked with the Reds while he was still with RB Leipzig, but made the switch the Stamford Bridge instead, joining up for £47.6 million. He is one of six new players (and counting) to join the Blues this silly season, as they have splashed the cash to the tune of over 200 million GBP.

Pulisic Misses Chelsea Win Due to Injury, Doubtful for Liverpool Clash

Chelsea were without a handful of their star players tonight, including Christian Pulisic, but they still managed to win easily at Brighton 3-1. Getting goals from Reece James, Kurt Zouma and Jorginho, manager Frank Lampard got a season with massive expectations started out on the right foot.

In the postgame press conference, he confirmed what had been suspected- Pulisic suffered an injury recovery setback in training this week. Although it’s been deemed only a minor setback, he still could miss out on next week’s blockbuster clash vs Liverpool.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has responded to the transfer spending comments made by his Liverpool counterpart, Jurgen Klopp. Ahead of his side’s season-opening win this weekend, Klopp hit out at the free-spending ways of both Manchester City and Chelsea.

According to multiple reports, Christian Pulisic will be given the No. 10 shirt at Chelsea for the 2020-21 season and beyond. Also, again according to multiple outlets, he’ll be 100% fit to feature in the Premier League season opener at Brighton & Hove Albion on Monday night.

The first bit of news is definitely exciting, but also expected when Willian left for Arsenal, and we learned 11 days ago that new arrival Hakim Ziyech would be wearing the No. 22 that Pulisic sported last season.
