Christian Pulisic Says His Chelsea Arrival Went Unnoticed

Chelsea star Christian Pulisic said barely anyone noticed when he first arrived at the club. Coming off an all-tournament team performance in the 2019 Gold Cup with the United States Men’s National team, Pulisic had barely any break at all this summer.

It was just a few days between his departing Chicago, where the USMNT lost to Mexico in the Gold Cup Final, to Japan where he joined the rest of his new team for their preseason exhibition tour. Traveling and arriving by himself, his first appearance had no fanfare.

Borussia Dortmund is a special club, for many reasons, one of which is putting Christian Pulisic, the face of American soccer, on the map. They also propelled Jurgen Klopp, one of the most interesting and compelling figures in all of world football/soccer to superstardom, before he assumed managerial duties at Liverpool FC.

With the exception of Belarus, global football is currently suspended. There is talk of the Premier League eying a potential mid-June return, and with that in mind, a possible May 18 return to training for Chelsea FC.

With that in mind, the club have now called their foreign players, who travelled to their home countries for lockdown, back to the club. The list includes: goalkeeper Kepa Arizzabalaga, winger Pedro and left back Marcos Alonso who were all in Spain, central defender Andreas Christensen in Denmark, full back Emerson in Italy, winger Willian in Brazil and winger Christian Pulisic in the United States.

Chelsea FC, Christian Pulisic Provide Fitness Update

With “Project Restart” beginning to take shape, Premier League clubs are telling foreign players who went back home to return to the United Kingdom. There is a target of returning to training by May 11 and resuming game action, this time behind closed doors, on June 8.

If and when these goals are met, Chelsea FC winger Christian Pulisic, out injured since a New Year’s Day draw versus Brighton, will be full go. Pulisic, named one of the world’s top 15 young footballing stars on the rise by Lionel Messi last month, has spent the near entirety of this calendar year sidelined with an adductor injury.

Potential of Christian Pulisic Hailed by Marcos Alonso

Talk today is that the Premier League is really starting to inch towards a return to action in early-to-mid June, and if it happens, it’ll mean the players will be coming off a period of approximately three months rest. For Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic, it will be closer to six months.

The 21-year-old, who was enjoying a fine debut season at Stamford Bridge, will have been sidelined for over half a calendar year by the time he gets back on the pitch- the most prolonged absence he’s ever had during his professional footballing career. He’ll be fit and fresh when he returns, and his teammate Marcos Alonso believes that the U.S. international could come back stronger than ever.
