Chelsea FC Starting XI Prediction at Southampton FC

Chelsea visits Southampton on Sunday in a renewal of a series that has been extremely lopsided lately. Saints have won only two of their last 20 Premier League meetings with Chelsea (D6, L12) and are winless in their last seven. Meanwhile the St. Mary’s Stadium has been a great place to go for Chelsea, as the west London side have won on nine of their 12 (D2, L1) that they have played there.

On Sunday, the Blues will look to win their fifth in a row in at the venue. The match comes right before another international break, a period that will see the first ever England call-up for Blues defender Fikayo Tomori.

Christian Pulisic Admits Frustration with Getting Benched at Chelsea

Chelsea’s £54 million acquisition from Borussia Dortmund, Christian Pulisic, went an unused substitute in the Blues 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion yesterday. This was the fourth time in the past five that he stayed on the bench, and the one game he did play, was only in League Cup competition against lower tier minnows.

Despite a handful of starts at the beginning of the season, Pulisic still has no goals scored in a Chelsea shirt. Why has the Hershey, Pennsylvania native fallen down the depth chart in west London? Ahead of the headliner fixture this Premier League weekend, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for his opponents Chelsea. The Reds will travel to Stamford Bridge in search of their first win there since September of 2016.

Klopp said that Frank Lampard’s side is the only club that could handle a transfer ban (the west London side wasn’t allowed to sign players this summer, and will be prohibited again this winter), and that’s because of all their impressive young talent. Klopp said that with highly rated young players like Christian Pulisic, Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount, they have what it takes to cope.
