Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has assured everybody that he’s not leaving the club in the January transfer window, but his future remains highly uncertain. Contract extension talks have stalled out, with the Welshman’s current deal set to expire at the end of the season.
Long time Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger, who signed the 27 year old a decade ago and stepped down in May, says Ramsey has the upper hand now in contract negotiations.
Here’s another aspect of this transfer saga which could give Aaron Ramsey even more negotiating leverage- he reportedly is open to the idea of joining one of the Gunners’ biggest rivals. According to ESPN FC, Ramsey would have no qualms about joining one of the other Premier League big six/top six clubs in the summer transfer window on a free.
ESPN writes that Ramsey is “set to take his time to consider his options but is open to staying in the Premier League with one of Arsenal’s direct rivals if he is forced to move on.”
It’s been a week of plot twists in this transfer narrative, and it’s likely we’ll see at least couple more before it’s resolved.
