Arsenal football club look inevitably headed towards a period of significant change. Alexis Sanchez is part of the “contract expires at the end of this season” brigade, and if the Gunners don’t move him between now and the 11th hour Thursday, they risk losing him for nothing.
However, the club reportedly turned down a £50 million bid from Manchester City for the player. That doesn’t sit well in the Arsenal dressing room, as the Gunners have reportedly become fed up with the situation.
Telegraph Sport “understands that the majority of the first-team squad have now had enough of Sanchez and the saga regarding his future. They believe he has no desire to be at Arsenal and has been allowed to get away with putting himself ahead of the team for far too long.”
There had also been talk of a deal involving Raheem Sterling going the other way, along with cash, but obviously the two clubs could not hammer out an agreement. According to ESPN FC, “City are expected to return with an improved offer for the forward, who is currently in Chile for Thursday’s World Cup qualifier with Paraguay.”
All summer long, Alexis Sanchez has been considered one of the main players to watch as deadline day approaches, and he’s become exactly that. City waited very late, reportedly, to issue an official bid, but it looks like something could still happen here, even if it’s at the last minute.
