Man City, Bayern Munich Among Favorites to Win Champions League

As the Premier League season winds down, Manchester City will focus on keeping the fine edge for the next major competition, the UEFA Champions League. For City, it means, a lot more as they have yet to ever reach a UCL final, let alone win it.

It’s also very likely that their ban from European competition for the next two seasons will be upheld, so they really got to make this one count. The 2019-20 Champions League has been given the green light to resume, via a miniature tournament format, running from August 12-23 in Lisbon, Portugal. So fans are ready to place their soccer bets on who they think will lift the trophy next month.

Manchester City at Newport County Injury Report: Kompany, Mendy, Bravo, O’Brien, Labadie

Manchester City heads to Newport County tomorrow for the first ever meeting in the FA Cup between the two sides and the first contest in any competition since City beat Newport in a 1962 League Cup clash. Newport County Association Football Club, based in Newport, South Wales, are currently in 15th place of League Two, the fourth tier of English football.

Obviously, they are massive underdogs in this fifth round clash and one should expect City manager Pep Guardiola to do a lot of squad rotation in this one. He’ll have one eye on this match, and another on what is ahead- their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie at FC Schalke four days later and the League Cup final four days after that.

Manchester City host Chelsea in what is the weekend’s only all top four battle. It’s also a match with huge Premier League title implications as City are now ahead of Liverpool at the top of the table via goal differential; although the Reds still have a game in hand.

Manchester City Starting XI Prediction, Team News at Newcastle United


Manchester City visits St. James’ Park tomorrow night to take on Newcastle United in a match-up of two sides at opposite ends of the Premier League spectrum. Manchester City had their proverbial day off kind of match this week already. Pep Guardiola played the kids in the midweek EFL Cup win at Burton Albion Wednesday night, and now City will take on Chelsea in that tournament’s final match at Wembley Stadium. Now the attention shifts to the other domestic cup where, they’ll host Burnley FC in the fourth round tomorrow.

“Always I try to name a strong team,” Guardiola said at his news conference today. “This is the FA Cup against a Premier League team, Burnley. We are going to go with the strongest team to win the game.”

Man United Officially Won’t Face Sergio Kun Aguero in Derby


Sergio Kun Aguero will miss some time for Manchester City due to disciplinary reasons. It’s official now that Aguero has been handed a three match ban for his elbow on the Hammers Winston Reid. The ban includes a blockbuster Manchester Derby at United the weekend after this one.

The Football Association has ruled, and they have charged him with an act of violent conduct. The Citizens had submitted an appeal of the violent conduct charge, but The FA said video evidence supported the charge and rejected the appeal.
