Sir Bobby Charlton thinks that Wayne Rooney will remain with Manchester United this season despite the bid from Chelsea and the claim that Arsenal will meet his salary demands. Charlton believes Wayne Rooney will stay and even break his goal-scoring record.
Earlier this month, Man U rejected a bid from Chelsea for the young striker and renknowned scorer. It is thought that Wayne Rooney is rather disgruntled and ready to bolt from Old Trafford. And Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says his club will get him as much quid as he desires.
However, United Manager David Moyes says Wayne Rooney is not for sale and Sir Bobby Charlton, now the director at Old Trafford told reporters the same thing.
“Wayne Rooney is a Manchester United player and I think that he will continue to be a Manchester United player,” the Red Devils legend told the media.
“We are not silly enough to make any rash decisions. I don’t like losing really good players and he is a really, really good player. I was hoping one day that he might score as many goals as I had and that would have been really nice if it was at our club – and I’m still thinking that way.”
Wayne Rooney may have had his worst season ever last year for United, but he still had 12 goals and 10 assists. He’s been the main attraction for Manchester United for a long time and even though he didn’t have a great year, his status is the one of the two main storylines surrounding the Red Devils right now. The other is obviously the potential purchase of Cesc Fabregas.
And while Wayne Rooney was in the shadow of Robin Van Persie last season, expect him to be the main focus as this season draws near.
