Americans be gangsta- that’s a stereotype many Britons hold of the United States. Not just the British, but most of the world. They often view Americans as gangsters with gangster rap being our national soundtrack. As an American who just got back from vacationing for two weeks in the United Kingdom, I’ve experienced this first hand.
So I was not surprised at all to see the manner in which Liverpool FC promoted their upcoming summer preseason tour in the United States. (Hip-hop is actually my favorite genre of music by the way…but no, I do not own any guns, nor have I ever shot anyone)
In preparation for their pre-season games in the US this summer, Liverpool FC asked Nathaniel Clyne, Joe Allen and even Simon Mignolet – or, as they are now known, Nathe Dogg, Lil’ Joe and Notorious M.I.G. – to show off their rapping skills with covers of some of the West Coast and Midwest’s biggest tunes.
The result is…what always happens when athletes rap. It’s awful. Hilarious, but awful. If you make it through all four minutes, then you’re a much braver man than I. Enjoy:

Liverpool FC will be playing in California and in the Midwest on their preseason summer USA tour; hence the choice of all the Midwestern and West Coast hip-hop songs in that video.
