Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has made no secret of his Manchester City hatred over the years, but what he apparently did Saturday crosses the line. Widely circulated video footage shows Herrera spitting, seemingly intentionally, on the Manchester City club badge as he exits the pitch and heads up the tunnel at halftime.
Herrera, through a club spokesperson, has issued a statement denying he spit on intentionally on the badge, but he didn’t say anything else beyond that and he failed to offer an explanation of what he was doing.

A Man United spokesperson said officially: “Ander has seen the footage of the incident and is mortified at any suggestion that his actions were deliberate. It was entirely accidental and there was no intent whatsoever.”
However The Guardian: “understands that City believe the Spaniard spat on the crest intentionally. ”
The incident went viral on the internet all over the world, and the Football Association may look into the situation and potentially considering discipline for Herrera. Everyone loves a good rivalry, where spirits are strong on both sides and the stakes are extremely high, but what Ander Herrera did was certainly in very poor taste.
