Tottenham, Denmark Concerned By Christian Eriksen Stomach Injury

Both Tottenham Hotspur and Denmark are quite concerned about the stomach issue that is currently affecting midfielder Christian Eriksen. The Danish international has missed the last four contests for Spurs and he could be facing a long term spell on the sidelines.

Now on international duty, Eriksen will get the opportunity to prove his fitness in UEFA Nations League competition. On October 13, Denmark will take on Ireland, but Eriksen’s status for that match is very much in doubt.

“Such an injury can be chronic, and it is true that Tottenham also fears that,” Denmark boss Age Hareide told Denmark media outlet Canal 9.

“It is doubtful whether we will lure him to Dublin and make him play. I do not think that Tottenham is particularly interested in that.”

Three days after the clash with Ireland, the Danish will take on Austria, and it is more likely that Eriksen could be in contention for that match. After featuring in Spurs’ first six league contests, Christian Eriksen has not played for the north London side since Sept 22. Asked how long Eriksen could potentially be sideline, Hareide was only able to offer the following as a response: “I do not really know. You should ask our doctor.”

Tottenham transfer rumors

It would be a massive blow for Spurs and their top four hopes if Eriksen faces a long spell on the sidelines. They have also had to deal with another injured star midfielder, as Dele Alli has spent part of this season battling a re-occurring hamstring problem.
