Manchester United icon and former boss Sir Alex Ferguson is in the United States plugging his new book “Leading.” There are two major events on this tour, in Philadelphia on the east coast and the Bay Area on the west coast.

Along the way, Fergie had a conversation with Shaka Hislop of ESPN FC, where he spoke his mind on the trending managerial topics of this week.

Ferguson backed Jurgen Klopp to succeed at Liverpool; although he said he’s against the idea of a transfer committee (more on that here).

Sir Alex Ferguson also said that he believes in Jose Mourinho to fix the current Chelsea mess and right the ship at Stamford Bridge.

“He will find a solution. It may take a few weeks, but you’ve got to remember, he’s lost his goalkeeper [Thibaut] Courtois, who’s a fantastic goalkeeper,” Ferguson told ESPN FC.

“Everyone, including myself, are thinking they were going to be difficult to beat. But great managers find solutions.”

“John Terry is in a little difficulty adjusting to his last season maybe, who knows — he played every game last season, the best central defender they’ve ever had — and he’s in a difficult time.

“So if the span of your team is not what it normally is, do you expect to get consistent results? I don’t think so. ”

“I think, knowing Jose Mourinho and the one thing I always admired about him and his team, they always play for him, they always try, so the ingredients are correct. He just has to find the solution to get his team back on track and I think he’ll do it.”

As the losses mount and Mourinho’s seat warms, the embattled Blues boss has found new and creative ways to publicly express his frustrations. In recent weeks, we’ve been treated to Mourinho: firing a classless passive-aggressive shot at Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger, calling a reporter’s line of questioning stupid, admitting that this is the worst period of his career, showing some despair regrading his ability to fix the situation, saying he is “not a magician” after one loss and calling some of his own players “rats.”

He also said the club “can sack him if they want.”

Sir Alex Ferguson believes however, that Mourinho is going to get things turned around.
