Manchester United Manager Jose Mourinho gave a fascinating and entertaining interview with France Football in which he said that we should now call him “The Calm One” (not The Special One anymore). Mourinho said that he’s matured, more at peace, and found more ways to separate football from the rest of the life.
Mourinho articulated the differences between Jose Mourinho the man and Jose Mourinho the manager, and you can read those quotes over at the link.
The Portugese also discussed how difficult it is to buy players from Premier League rival clubs these days.
“Here, everyone is powerful now,’ he told France Football (in the same interview).
“The scenery has changed. If I want to buy a player from Tottenham, I can’t. Nor can I buy a player from Manchester City or Arsenal. That was not the case before. At Chelsea, I brought in Shaun Wright-Phillips, who was the best player at Manchester City or Ashley Cole from Arsenal.”
“Sir Alex, when he wanted the best player from Tottenham, he bought Michael Carrick and then [Dimitar] Berbatov.”
In other words, don’t expect any of the big six, or the giant clubs up at the top of the table, to be transferring any players any time soon.
