Video: Katherine Webb sticks up for Musburger, ESPN apology was stupid

The actual college football game was a total joke- the Alabama Crimson Tide totally crushed Notre Dame right from the start. The game was over at kickoff. Serves ESPN right for over-promoting the hell out of the game for the past month and change. So what captivated the viewers since the football was anything but interesting? Katherine Webb, Miss Alabama 2012 and girlfriend of Tide QB A.J. McCarron. And ironically an Auburn graduate.

Her, along with the hot mom of McCarron, Dee Dee Sonders got a TON of ESPN air time tonight, and with that they almost broke Twitter and the internet. And turned legendary sportscaster Brent Musburger into a national punchline. And wrongfully so. I posted the video after the game and pointed out the web making fun of Musburger, but I don’t think it was right. Musburger didn’t say anything offensive. And he certainly didn’t say anything any different from what us guys were thinking.

Webb thinks so too.

“I think the media has been really unfair to him,” Webb said on Wednesday’s edition of “The Today Show.” “I think that if he would have said some along the lines that we were hot or sexy or made any derogatory statements like that, I think that would have been a little bit different. But the fact that he said that we were beautiful and gorgeous, I don’t see why any woman wouldn’t be flattered by that.”

Webb also said that while she appreciated ESPN’s apology, she said that it wasn’t necessary. Yes that ESPN apology was totally useless crap. Musburger didn’t say anything offensive, and even if he had used the word “hot” or “sexy” what the hell is wrong with that?  She’s a beauty queen! She parades around in bikinis for public consumption. She competes to be hot and sexy. It’s what she lives for. And you know she’s loving her new found fame. Attention is what girls like this live for.

Watch the video:

Also, Musburger is just working off the teleprompter, what the cameraman was showing. If you want to get offended by leering, blame the camera operator for going back to Webb so much and staying on her. Musburger didn’t have to apologize for his Jenn Sterger remark. When the cameras caught Sterger in her ten gallon hat and ten gallon jugs hanging out on display, it made her famous. Musburger simply said “and thousands of red blooded American males just applied to Florida St.” Nothing wrong with that; nothing wrong with what he said Monday either.
