jurgen klopp

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp revealed that he had to remove his leading scorer, Egyptian winger Mo Salah, from the Merseyside Derby due to an injury scare. Klopp came under much scrutiny for removing his player of the year candidate, and only goalscorer in the 1-1 draw, in the 67′.

The German had to make this switch in order to prevent a hamstring issue from degenerating into a serious injury.

jurgen klopp

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp does not have angry regrets at all about what he had to say after his side drew with Everton in the Merseyside derby on Sunday. Klopp took aim at both the officiating and the Sky Sports reporter interviewing him, Patrick Davison, telling the media personality that he only wanted “to talk to people who have a little bit of an understanding of football.”

Klopp then immediately apologized, right in the midst of the interview, as he clearly realized that he had just made a major mistake.

Jurgen Klopp Rips Officiating, Reporter After Merseyside Derby Draw

jurgen klopp

It’s quite possible that this tirade from Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp could earn him a fine and/or public apology. Liverpool owned a 79% possession and 22-3 shot advantage over Everton, but managed only a 1-1 draw in the Merseyside Derby. What a shame, as it wasted an absolutely brilliant and beautiful goal from winger Mohamed Salah, a scoring strike that trended on social media.

However, a very controversial challenge from the extremely embattled Dejan Lovren gave the Toffees a penalty, which Wayne Rooney converted to equalize for the visitors.

Manchester United #5 in Champions League Power Rankings

When someone composes a UEFA Champions League power rankings they are also essentially creating a world power rankings. If you can beat everybody in Europe, then you can beat anybody on Earth. The Guardian concocted a hierarchy of the 16 teams who advanced to the knockout round, and Manchester United came in fifth.

It sounds about right, and it’s hard to argue against that. It’s also difficult to take issue with where United’s opponents this weekend in the Manchester Derby placed- #1.
