Tottenham Hotspur Injury Update: Jan Vertonghen, Danny Rose

Tottenham Hotspur are certainly a club with their fair share of injury concerns right now. Midfielder Dele Alli has been up and down with his hamstring issues. Another midfielder, Christian Eriksen, has a stomach problem that could be of serious concern and must be monitored.

And now today, updated news on centre half Jan Vertonghen and defender Danny Rose. The club posted a statement today saying that Vertonghen will be out until December. And by December, they mean that he will resume training during the final month of the year. When he returns to actual game action could be a time even longer down the road.

The statement referenced the hamstring injury he suffered “against Hudderfield Town on 29 September, which has been monitored closely over the past 12 days,” the club statement says. “Further investigation has shown a good initial response to rehabilitation.”

This injury could easily be a case of overwork, and not enough rest. Vertonghen started and played the full 90 minutes in all six of Belgium’s matches at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where the national side finished third.

As for Rose, he along with Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy, left the England squad today due to “minor injuries” that they arrived at Three Lions camp with.  So obviously neither will feature for England in the UEFA Nations League.

Rose had seemed back on his way to full recovery from the torn ACL that he suffered in 2017, but the latest setback is obviously a disappointing blow to his international career.
