You can describe Mo Salah many things- an Egyptian magician on the pitch, a hero who is helping to inspire social justice off the pitch, one of the greatest transfer purchases of all time, or by his nickname “The Pharaoh.” As of a few hours ago, you can also call him the PFA Player of the Year.

It won’t be long till we can call him the Golden Boot Award winner too.

Mo Salah has 41 goals for the season across all competitions, as he chases Ian Rush’s record of 47. This past weekend, he scored again in a 2-2 draw with West Brom, to moved into a tie with Luis Suarez, Cristiano Ronaldo and Alan Shearer for the most Premier League goals scored in a 38-game season.

He was three games left to become the lone record holder.

“It’s a big honour. I’ve worked hard and I’m very happy to win it,” Salah said at the Sunday night ceremony.

Asked what it meant to become the first Egyptian to win the award, he said: “Hopefully I’m not the last one! I’m very proud to win and I’ve worked very hard.”
