Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah is developing into a superstar this season, and he’s now currently the front-runner to win PFA Player of the Year. His game winning goal today, in a 2-1 come-from-behind triumph at Crystal Palace, saw his tying Chelsea legend Didier Drogba for the most single season goals (29) scored by an African player in Premier League history.
Remember, the Reds still have six league games to go. Not bad for a player once tossed aside by Chelsea. Salah’s overall total of 37 goals across all competitions is also the most in a single season by a Liverpool player in the Premier League era, beating Robbie Fowler’s total of 36 in 1995-96. Salah’s tally has come in just 41 games, compared to Fowler’s requiring 53 matches to meet the mark.
Salah, an Egyptian international who is nicknamed The Pharaoh, is becoming more popular worldwide with each goal scored.
Mohamed Salah, sometimes called Mo Salah, is also known for his public expression of his Islamic faith on the pitch. His goal scoring heroics are even inspiring some fans to convert their religion to Islam. Additionally, he’s also inspiring Muslims to be less shy about expressing their faith in public.
Yes, Salah is making huge strides to combat Islamophobia, and that is detailed in the video below from AJ Plus, a news site that, according to their self-description, spotlights stories of “human struggles and challenging the status quo.”
