It’s was a terrible year for Manchester United. Regime change failed miserably. From winning the championship to the worst finish Manchester United has ever had in the history of the Premier League, in just one year. To rub further salt in the very deep wounds, the two clubs fighting it out for the title are their most hated of rivals: Liverpool, and their local rivals Manchester City.
But yesterday, lots of Red Devils took joy in watching others suffer, the notoriously non translatable word of “schadenfreude” (only the language of German has a word for this) as Liverpool suffered an epic collapse that ended their title hopes. The Reds took a 3-0 lead into the 78th minute yet ended up with a 3-3 draw, to 11th place Crystal Palace, a team that was firmly in the drop zone just a couple months ago.
Manchester United fans need something to salvage this season, and the tears of LFC players and supporters tasted so sweet to Manchester United supporters.I did a collection of some of the greatest tweets in this vein.
