Manchester United are just minutes away from kicking off at home against Burnley in Premier League action. Interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that at finishing in the top four is not high enough to be standard for a club like MUFC in general.
“That’s not the dream, to be top four,” Solskjaer said at his prematch press conference yesterday. “We’re Man United, you should always aim to win the league. We can’t do that this year but we’ve just got to look forward to that again because we have to get back to that.”
“We’ve got the Champions League, we’ve got the FA Cup, we can’t just say top four and that’s it. We’ve got to look at ‘Can we win something this year?'”
Solskjaer is of course speaking about future seasons for the club, not this campaign, where the best that this side can hope for is finishing in the top four. The Norwegian said he is going about his business everyday as if he’ll be back next season. His future beuyond the rest of this season still remains up in the air.
“We need to use these months now to be ready for the challenge next year,” Solskjaer continued.
“Of course we came second last season, we wanted to be challenging for the top place. It didn’t happen, now it’s about re-organizing and just starting next season ready to challenge.”
Here’s the first team that the caretaker boss selected to feature on the pitch tonight:

-It was the last day of the season for Manchester United in 2015-16 as they were set to take on AFC Bournemouth.
A huge win, and a Manchester City loss, could propel them to finish in the Top 4 of the Premier League, giving them a place in the Champions League. However, a suspicious device was found inside a toilet in Old Trafford, forcing an evacuation and a rare postponement for MUFC.
I was actually in attendance that Championship Sunday. The LGWS podcast is a unique one where I shared my first hand experience as the stadium was evacuated and the drama that ensued afterwards.
