The final international break of the 2018-19 season is now over, and with it we turn our focus to the headliner match-up of the Premier League weekend- Tottenham Hotspur at Liverpool. It’s going to be, arguably, the biggest league fixture that Anfield has seen since 2014.
Let’s take a look at the fitness situation for both sides, starting with the hosts. Defender Joe Gomez has now returned to training, and midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is set to return next week. Gomez is in contention to feature in this one while The Ox could be available by next weekend or so, potentially.
Meanwhile defender Trent Alexander-Arnold faces a late fitness test after being forced to withdraw from the England national team this week due to a back injury that has been described as “strange.”
In flipping over to the visitors now, Harry Winks also withdrew from the Three Lions squad, due to a groin issue. Eric Dier meanwhile has seen his nightmarish season of freakish injury and illness continue, with a muscle injury sustained on international duty being the setback this time.
