David de Gea Not Going to Real Madrid, Jose Mourinho 100% Guarantees

There has been a lot of reported tension between Manchester United and Real Madrid this summer. That’s nothing new, as bickering between the two clubs has been going on for years. The situation was certainly not helped by the very tedious and exceedingly over-covered David de Gea transfer saga of 2015.

That situation ended with a midnight hour clerical snafu that saw each side blame the other, and further drive a wedge that had already been in place from years past.

Despite signing a long term extension with United that September, we’ve still seen plenty of De Gea to Real Madrid transfer rumors this summer (and last summer for that matter).

United Manager Jose Mourinho said that he is 100% certain that De Gea is not going anywhere this summer. Like the kids say these days “keep it 100,” meaning “keep it 100% real.”

“I can guarantee that he’s not going this season, that I can, and my feeling is it will be very difficult for him to go. Because he’s a very honest boy, very straight,” Mourinho said ahead of the international friendly between the two clubs in northern California Sunday. He also suggested that United allowed De Gea, who hails from Madrid, the option of whether or not he moves back to his hometown.

“He was contacted for a long time (by Los Blancos),” the United boss continued.

“The club was close, then we open because I always have this feeling of when a player has a desire to go I don’t like to stop players to go because in the end you don’t get what you expect from them if they want to move and they don’t.”

“I don’t think the feeling from him (regarding Real Madrid) is very good. I see him very happy and focused and working better than ever so for me 100% he stays with us.”
