It’s another international break and thus, kind of a slow time when it comes to big headlines, but there’s still a whole lot of important Chelsea FC news items out there. Here are links to some of the more relevant United news stories currently circulating on the internet.

-Yes, our old familiar friend, the Eden Hazard to Real Madrid transfer rumor narrative, is back yet again. This time though, it’s an update that casts doubt over the idea of this deal actually happening.

zinedine zidane

Spanish website Don Balon says that Real Madrid President Florentino Perez still has some doubts about Hazard, but he would be open to buying the Belgium international if manager Zinedine Zidane wins the UEFA Champions League and stays in charge. It’s been well documented how Zidane is a huge fan of Eden Hazard.

However, if Zidane leaves, the Spanish giants would replace him with Germany manager Joachim Low (a rumored target for succeeding Arsene Wenger at Arsenal), who would pass on the chance to sign Hazard. Instead, under this scenario, Los Blancos would give a greater role to Marcos Asensio (who himself has been linked in a potential swap deal for Eden Hazard, just a few days ago.

Yes, it’s a whole series of contingencies, and thus rather complicated, but the Daily Express spells it all out in further detail at this link.

-Midfielder Marcos Alonso says that his teammate, striker Alvaro Morata, was quite unhappy that he didn’t make the cut for Spain’s squad this international break.

La Roja visit Germany today in Dusseldorf, and will then take on Argentina four days later in Madrid.

“Alvaro wasn’t happy,” Alonso is quoted in an ESPN FC article. “He has gone through a difficult few months with a back injury. He is now 100 percent and the other day he scored.

“He is a very important player for us. I hope he will do well from here until the end of the season and he gets to go to the World Cup.”
