Yes, our old familiar friend, the Eden Hazard to Real Madrid transfer rumor narrative, is back yet again. This time there’s a twist though, and it comes in the form of a potential swap deal. In the latest installment of Hazard to Real transfer rumors, Los Blancos attacker Marco Asensio is linked with going the other way.
Via Spanish outlet Diario Gol: Specialized sources in the players’ market inform Diario Gol that if Hazard signs for Real Madrid, Asensio could do the opposite way.
Asensio, a very talented 22-year-old, is reportedly looking for major minutes and first team football, which isn’t going to happenat the Santiago Bernabeu with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale in front of him.
Additionally, Stamford Bridge could be an attractive destination for Asensio, especially if Hazard is indeed going the other way. This swap deal, if it were to actually happen, would actually make sense for both clubs, at least much more so than just a Hazard sale, but the transaction wouldn’t likely be completed until after the World Cup.
We eagerly await a potential comment from Hazard’s dad on this hypothetical transfer situation.
