After the first eight games of the season, Arsenal are in fourth place, currently holding down the final UEFA Champions League qualification slot in the Premier League table. Having missed out on this the past seasons, as Arsene Wenger’s glorious run came to an unceremonious end.

Getting back into Europe this year would be a huge milestone, and it convey real progress in year one of the Unai Emery era.

Club legend Robert Pires, a member of the club’s “Invincibles” side which claimed the Premier League title glory in 2003-04, has full faith in Emery to lead the Gunners back into the UCL.

He even has 100% belief that they will finish in the top four.

“For the moment I am very happy, of course, for the club because I am an ambassador for Arsenal but especially for Unai Emery because he’s a great manager,” is quoted in Express.

“He did well with Sevilla, he has won some titles, especially with Paris Saint-Germain last season. And, of course, you know you need to improve every day but Arsenal actually are on a very good run, especially in the Premier League.

“Nine games, nine victories, so I think they will finish in the top four, sure, 100 per cent.”

After starting the season with losses to league title contenders Manchester City and Chelsea, the Gunners have ripped off six wins in a row in league play. Across all competitions, the north London side is current riding a nine game winning streak.

They return to action six days from now when they take on Leicester City at home.
