Louis van Gaal gave his press conference today previewing the FA Cup third round match on Saturday between Manchester United and Sheffield United. As it commenced, the Dutchman got one of his own player’s names wrong; again. Remember “Mike Smalling,” and then again when he said “Michael Smalling,” in reference to Chris Smalling?
It happened again with Will Keane, or as Louis van Gaal likes to call him Michael Keane.
Watch the video below, this happens right off the top. Here’s the YouTube embedded below:
It appears that Van Gaal has confused Will Keane with his twin brother Michael who was sold off to Burnley in the previous January transfer window. Confusing these two players, that’s understandable, although it does make it more difficult to take Van Gaal seriously. However, getting Smalling’s name wrong, not once, but twice, is inexplicable. Chris Smalling is right up there with Anthony Martial as United’s best outfield players this season.

Maybe the video of this Louis van Gaal speaking gaffe will go viral, just like the Smalling one did. The presser today had some other entertaining moments, as Van Gaal shot down a couple reporters’ analysis of his team. LVG seemed a bit defensive at times here and there. The comments on Pep Guardiola were entertaining too.
