Possible Destinations for Eagles QB Kevin Kolb

Kevin Kolb’s future is in limbo right now, his time with the Philadelphia Eagles only possibly extended by the ongoing lockout.

Nothing is certain about whether or not he will remain with the team for the next season, but for now, under the terms of the lockout, the team is forbidden to trade him, despite the persistent rumors and the lingering possibility.

Kolb returned to work out with his teammates and said he felt good about being back in the fold. He said he didn’t know much about the possibility of the team trading him as soon as the lockout is over, and that he didn’t want to think about it either.

He said he was going to keep positive about it all. Even if he does get traded, it would appear that several teams will be lining up to acquire his services. Fan speculation online and on various forums has brought forth several teams as likely future destinations for the QB. The Arizona Cardinals are rumored to be in the market for a QB like him.

The Chicago Bears also represent a possibility, together with the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers. The Cleveland Browns may also be interested.

At the Eagles, Kevin Kolb was basically a victim of Michael Vick’s emergence as the top dog. He was unlucky enough to get injured when Vick was around to take over for good. The out of action QB spent most of the offseason at his Texas home. In another sign of the team preparing to unload Kolb, 3rd string QB Mike Kafka said he was ready to step up to become the 2nd choice for the coach at the QB position. Michal Vick did not attend Thursday’s workout, despite the fact that he was its main organizer.

In other news: the Eagles are likely to pick up Plaxico Burress, another wayward player currently doing time in jail. Burress’ addition has been OKd by Vick too, who said he was ready to welcome him in the fold.
