Liverpool FC have announced the acquisition of 24-year-old defender Steven Caulker in a loan deal from Queens Park Rangers. Reds Manager Jurgen Klopp made comments a few days ago foreshadowing Liverpool dipping into the transfer market in response to the team’s injury crisis in the back line.
QPR will loan the center back to Liverpool for the rest of the season and he’ll join the club in time to be eligible for selection versus Arsenal at Anfield Wednesday night.

Klopp had said previously that this was going to be a very quiet January transfer window at Liverpool. Of course, that was before Dejan Lovren, Mamadou Sakho and Philippe Coutinho all went down with injuries, leaving Liverpool with just one fit center-back, Kolo Toure.
Caulkner is the second signing Liverpool has made this January transfer window. The first was Marko Grujic. Here’s more on him.
