Manchester United returned to being Mino Raiola FC today as two of his biggest and most stellar clients, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba, made their long awaited returns from injury. The former came on as a second-half substitute in United’s 4-1 thumping of Newcastle on Saturday, while the latter scored, assisted and danced in celebration.

Indeed, for Pogba it was the holy trinity. For Ibrahimovic he saw his first game action since April, when he tore up his knee in the UEFA Europa League quarterfinals. At first there were doubts about if he would play again, and if so how long would it be?

Then the timeline was set for 2018. Ibrahimovic however was a medical marvel in his recovery, and soon talk of a December return emerged. The Swede shocked everybody when he was officially named to the squad yesterday by manager Jose Mourinho. After the win today he was by a BT Sport reporter asked if he ever doubted he would return.

“No, because lions, they don’t recover like humans,” Ibrahimovic responded. “It’s special. Different day, same quality. I am not worried. I am not worried at all because I know what I do. I train hard. I sacrificed a lot.

“It is not easy, especially in my case. It was not like I went on vacation. I had a different summer because I was without a contract. As soon as I signed I wanted to focus on the team. I wanted to give something to help the team as best as possible.

“It’s about coming back and making a statement. I’m just thankful I can play football again.”
