The deal that will send Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier to Atletico Madrid developed rather rapidly, with almost all of the news relating to it coming out in the past 24 hours or so. We often talk about long, protracted tedious transfer sagas, but this narrative is certainly the polar opposite.
Trippier, according to various sources, including The Guardian and The Telegraph, will fly out to Madrid to undergo his medical ahead of a £20 million (plus add-ons) deal. The full back had a breakout 2018 World Cup with England, but wasn’t able to transfer that success with country over to club.

In fact, his past season with the north London club was actually quite rough, and there will certainly be some Spurs supporters who won’t be too sad to see him go. Trippier, who was excused from the Tottenham flight to Singapore, where they will participate in the International Champions Cup, fills a need for Atletico.
The fullback will serve as a replacement for the retiring Juanfran, who they officially cut ties with last month.
