There is good news, bad news on the fitness front for Real Madrid as the next La Liga fixture approaches. We’ll do bad news first, as living legend and midfield maestro Luka Modric will miss out once again here. Modric missed out against Napoli in midweek, due to a muscular issue.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti said during his post-match presser all the players who missed out in continental competition will also be sidelined come the weekend; and that includes Modric.

So Modric now moves into the long-term injury absentee category for Madrid, which, as you know, is a very big group right now.

It includes the likes of Arda Guler, Eder Militao, Eduardo Camavinga, Thibaut Courtois, Vinicius Junior, Eduardo Camavinga, Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Aurelien Tchouameni.

But wait, didn’t you say there was good news too?

Yes, there is. Forward Rodrygo, who had to be subbed off late on Wednesday night, thus providing yet another injury scare for Madristas everywhere, only has a cramp.

So he most likely should be available for this one.
