The last thing that Manchester United need right now is more injuries. But that is exactly what they have on their hands in Patrick Dorgu and Bruno Fernandes.
United took only one victory from their opening five matches in the Premier League thus far this term.
Additionally, United have already been bounced from the League Cup, having suffered a heart-breaking defeat at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion.
Maybe the heat isn’t on Michael Carrick as of yet, but if the results continue to underwhelm after the international break, well, his seat temperature will start to rise.
Losing Fernandes and Dorgu on the same day is very bad news, to say the least.
However, their situations might not be too serious, so let’s take a closer look.
Bruno Fernandes
Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus ruled Fernandes out of today’s 2-1 Nations League match at Norway, due to an unspecified injury:
“Against Wales, we went in with practically everyone physically available and came out with a complicated problem with Bruno Fernandes…we’ll see what happens,” Jesus said yesterday.
“He’s coming off an injury at United, and he told me he’s been playing with that pain for the last three games, which is hindering him. It was one of the factors that prevented Bruno from playing at his best (this Thursday in the next match). I’ve already spoken to him, and I prefer not to risk it in this game, so he’s fully fit for the Denmark match.”
If Bruno comes back to play for Portugal, at home against Denmark in midweek, then United will have no worries about their captain and star man.

Patrick Dorgu
Speaking of Denmark, that’s Dorgu’s national team, and they beat Wales 2-0 today in Nations League play. Dorgu, however, exited after just 30 minutes, having to limp off the pitch.
It looks like the injury is to his thigh/hamstring, and we now await news on the severity of the situation.
With Luke Shaw being injury prone again this season, United just cannot afford any more injuries at the left back position right now.
