Newcastle United may have a new manager, and a totally revamped squad, but one thing remains the same- injuries. At this international break (actually, it’s more like an international break on steroids) the Geordies have more injuries than any other Premier League side. They are so banged up that we’re going to need three separate articles to cover it all. We’ll do Anthony Elanga, Ewen Jaouen, Jacob Ramsey and Nicolas Gonzalez in part one.
Part two, linked here, consists of Amar Dedic, Sean Steur, Matias Fernandez-Pardo and Joelinton. For part three, we’ll get into the details on Dan Burn, William Osula and Valentino Livramento.
Anthony Elanga
The former Manchester United and Nottingham Forest man is dealing with a thigh injury, but it is thought to not be too serious. Sky Sports posted a report over the weekend that was very encouraging.
Elanga could be back for the first match after the international break.

Ewen Jaouen
The second choice goalkeeper twisted his ankle back on Sept. 8 and has been out since. He should be fun once though, once the internationals are over. He won’t likely be selected, but he’ll still be available.
Jacob Ramsey
He’s been out since suffering a thigh injury, in the warm-ups ahead of the match with Leeds United. He is expected to be match fit though, in time for Oct. 12, when the Magpies travel to Coventry City for a Monday nighter.
Nico Gonzalez
The summer signing has a concussion, and the protocol for these types of injuries is pretty strict (as it should be). However, having this happen during an elongated international break is very covenient. He should be good to go for the next match.
